About

Dr. Rebecca L. Stepien graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and completed a cardiology residency at the Ohio State University. She subsequently taught at the Royal Veterinary College in London and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.

She is currently a Clinical Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine,where she has taught and seen referral patients since 1994. Dr. Stepien holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Sciences, is board-certified in the specialty of Cardiology in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and is a past president of the ACVIM Specialty of Cardiology. Her academic and clinical interests include diagnosis and therapy of systemic hypertension, mitral valve disease in whippets, therapy of heart failure and veterinary ethics.

Dr. Stepien is a frequent speaker at international veterinary conferences and in 2008, was awarded the British Small Animal Veterinary Medical Association Bourgelat Award for outstanding contribution to the field of small animal practice.
